Primary mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) B-cell lymphoma—a rare breast malignancy

Jenny M. Shao, Megan Cheney, Bridget A. Oppong

Abstract

Primary breast lymphoma (PBL) is an uncommon manifestation of breast cancer. Mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphomas account for 12% of all PBLs, and most commonly present as a painless mass in the outer quadrant of the breast. They can also present with local pain or inflammation, palpable lymph nodes, and as incidental findings on screening mammography. We present a case of a breast mass found to be a PBL in an elderly woman.
